Speak up without saying a word.

Use Text-A-Tip to anonymously report bullying, drug possession, crime and other school or community safety concerns.

You know you should call 911 in an emergency, but what can you do if you see, hear or know about something that is illegal, or is hurting you or could harm others?

If you're a middle or high school student in Blount County, it's easy to speak up and get help while staying anonymous. It's Text-A-Tip, and it's the right thing to do. Taking a few seconds to fire off a text could prevent a suicide or fight, get illegal drugs or weapons off your school campus, or a stop a bully who has been harassing you or other students.

Here's how Text-A-Tip works:

STUDENTS: If you're a Blount County student, text your tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Start your message with your school's keyword.

Blount County High School Keywords

  • Alcoa High School: AHSTIP
  • Everett Learning Opportunity Center: ELOCTIP
  • Heritage High School: HHSTIP
  • Maryville High School: REBELS
  • William Blount High School: WBHS

Blount County Middle School Keywords

  • Alcoa Middle School: AMSTIP
  • Carpenters Middle School: CMSTIP
  • Eagleton Middle School: ROYALS
  • Heritage Middle School: HMSTIP
  • Maryville Junior High School: MTHTIP
  • Union Grove Middle School: UGMSTIP

RESIDENTS: If you're a Blount County resident who is not a student, visit the Blount County Sheriff's Office website and choose Text-A-Tip to learn about the county's free TipSoft messaging system.

CONFIDENTIAL: To protect your identity, your texted tip is filtered through a secure server before being sent to the Blount County Emergency Communications (911) Center. From there, the anonymous tip is sent to the appropriate School Resource Officer (SRO) and local law enforcement officer. Nothing in the message identifies you or your phone number.

FOLLOW UP: After you text your tip, you'll get a text reply message with a confidential code number. Use the code if you want to add more or new information to the original tip.

Not sure when to text a tip?

If you know or believe that something illegal or potentially harmful is going on at your school or in the community, don't be afraid to speak up. Text-A-Tip is available year round for you to anonymously voice your concerns and let law enforcement do the rest.

Use Text-A-Tip if you have information or concerns about:

  • weapons or drugs on school property or in the community
  • a friend or classmate who is contemplating suicide
  • suspicious individuals on school grounds or in your neighborhood
  • child abuse or domestic abuse
  • fights or other violence
  • bullying
  • illegal drug sales at school or in the community
  • underage drinking or the sale of alcohol to minors
  • driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
  • crime including theft and vandalism
